Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance
There’s been a few Robin Hood movies in my lifetime. Or at least I think I really don’t remember to be truthful, as just about all of these movies are boring, and the newest inclination is more of the same. This film knows what it is and tries to use that to its advantage but it just doesn’t work.
Despite a stellar cast, this one never was able to capture my attention. It all feels so middle of the line, nothing jumps out at you at all when watching Robin Hood. There are some decently average action sequences, but nothing more than that. Jamie Foxx definitely had a good time making this one and probably made quite a bit of money as well. Taron Egerton is just fine, but really doesn’t do anything special with the role. Ben Mendelsohn is essentially playing his same character from Ready Player One just with different clothes. Also the costuming in this movie was a bit interesting.
