So like I saw this weeks ago, and I sort of just forgot to review it. It’s probably the perfect way to describe my thoughts on it to be honest. It’s not bad, some might disagree on that, and it’s definitely not a great movie but I had a lot of fun with it. Sony is like the king of these type of comic book films. The Amazing Spider-Man really isn’t a good movie, but again there is still fun to be had with it.
First things first, without Tom Hardy this movie would fail miserably. I really can’t think of anyone else that could pull off a performance like this. From what I’ve heard just about everyone’s favorite aspect of this film is the back and forth between Venom and Eddie. I completely share this sentiment, and in fact I wish we got a lot more of it. It sort of stumbles through the first act, and really doesn’t get entertaining until Venom is in the picture.
As far as negatives, the dialogue isn’t great. However, it wasn’t near as cheesy as I was expecting. Riz Ahmed essentially plays Elon Musk, and I felt he was pretty miscast, but hey who cares? That is sort of how I look at the problems, with this movie. I didn’t expect it to be perfect (it wasn’t) and I’m perfectly fine with that. Is it worth watching again, I mean probably not but it did its job of entertaining me throughout so I’m not gonna complain.
