Rocky (Jane Levy), Alex and Money are three Detroit thieves who get their kicks by breaking into the houses of wealthy people. Money gets word about a blind veteran who won a major cash settlement following the death of his only child. Figuring he’s an easy target, the trio invades the man’s secluded home in an abandoned neighborhood. Finding themselves trapped inside, the young intruders must fight for their lives after making a shocking discovery about their supposedly helpless victim.
Don’t Breathe might be one of the best horror films of the last few years. It takes what I personally consider to be an intriguing premise and does it well. Its most noticeable strong suit is that it doesn’t try to be cute and do too much with its story. The movies premise is an interesting one. A blind dangerous man and the lights turned out to even the odds. A perfect tense thrill ride that just never really lets up. Excellent sound work, acting and color palette. A complaint that I have is the very end of the movie. It felt very unneeded and not necessary especially because their was a completely clear point that would’ve been perfect to end the film. Overall this is an above average horror film that I had a great time with.
