Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice

It’s been nearly two years since Superman’s (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel.

Batman v Superman the most hyped movie of 2016, so far probably.  But does it live it up to the hype? In my opinion not really.  There are going to be a lot of people who will say this is the best movie they’ve ever seen, and that’s fine.  Before I draw too far off topic, I will say I had fun with this movie for the most part, and most of my flaws are nitpicking.

First off, I have to say that Ben Affleck was PHENOMENAL as Batman.  He absoubulely owned the role, much better than I expected.  I don’t want to say he is better than Bale, but his action scenes were much more crisp.  Cavill was just fine as Superman.  Amy Adams is fine as Louis Lane.  I really like Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman.  Which brings us to Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor…..ehhhhh just didn’t do it for me.  He just acted overly OCD or something not like he did a bad job, just a bad casting choice.

As far as the film in general: The main problem I have with Zack Synder’s films is his tendency to develop the visual and just leave the story fall off.  Which is the case with this film.  The story just drops off and is very spotty in some parts.  The plot sucks simply put.  It just feels like this whole movie was just meant to set up for future films.  And some of the dialogue was sooooo cheesy.  And the way they set up the Justice League was embarrassing and incredibly forced.  The ending also felt just incredibly jammed together, not Fantastic 4 bad but still too quick.  Which is surprising considering this movie is two and a half hours long.

In conclusion while it may be a fun visual experience and nice to see 2 titans finally lock horns.  What Batman V Superman shows in effects it lacks in story.  Oh and if you saw that one trailer-you’ve seen the movie.
